The Ancient Theater of Dodoni was built in the 3rd century BC. under the rule
of Pyrrhus and follows the plan of all Greek theaters.
It had 18,000 spectators and was the largest of its time.

During the celebration of the Temples in honor of the Holy Jupiter,
in addition to the stage games, there were also theatrical games.
The theater was destroyed and repaired twice.

It was first destroyed by the Aetolians with King Dorimachus in 219 BC,
but the following year the Greek King Philip I of Macedonia trybe began repairs.
In 167 BC, Roman General Emilios Paul destroyed
it again until 31 BC. it was again repaired by the Roman Emperor Octavian
in August to be used as an arena for savagery by the Romans.

The wall in front of the first seats was built at this time
to protect spectators from the beasts
