The ruins of Kriovrisi (Pestiani) are located 7 kilometers northeast of Igoumenitsa.
During the Turkish occupation, many monks gathered in the area of Pestiani,
divided into small groups that lived in caves.

But the group of literates stayed in the village during the day in the huts
and taught the young people of the village letters and arts, and at night they
returned to the cave to sleep. So once they fell into the hands of Turkish soldiers,
who slaughtered them in a cave on the spot and took their corpses with them, so as not
to be noticed. Their blood is preserved even today, the so-called blood of the monks.

In November 1979, on the 6th of the month and the 11th, two strong earthquakes completely destroyed Pestiani (Kryovrysi)
