Elataria in Thesprotia Prefecture is a unique natural creation at an altitude of 805m. It is one of the most beautiful and isolated villages of the Prefecture.

Even before reaching the settlement, there is a change in the atmosphere with fir trees covering the mountain and the smell of oxygen rich in the air.

Through the trees, the scarce houses of the settlement are hardly visible yet in full harmony with the natural environment.

The stony fountain under the small Church of Virgin Mary, the old watermill which was functional until the first half of 20th century and the other two small churches of St Nikolaos and St Athanasios are –along with the settlement houses- the only human creations one can see.

The pine forest of Elataria extends at a space of 6000 acres with an amazing gorge cutting it in two halves. Nature lovers will adore this destination.
