During the Civil War, three remaining Democratic Army soldiers defending the hill refused
to surrender and dived into the void.

In memory of this tragic event, a monument has been erected at the top of the cliff

with the inscription Honor and Glory on the eagles of the DSG along with three relief
figures armed, with angelic wings.
