Konitsa  is a town in the prefecture of Ioannina and the seat of the municipality of Konitsa in Epirus 64 kilometers north of Ioannina, near the Albanian border.

It lies amphitheatrically on the slope of Trapezitsa Mountain, on the Pindos Mountains, overlooking the Konitsa valley where the river Aoos meets the Voidomatis and Sarantaporos rivers.

The valley is systematically cultivated by local farmers. Konitsa is a regional center for many small villages in Pindos, with markets, schools and a health center.

It is a good starting point for tourists who want to explore the mountains of Pindos, for mountain activities, canoeing in the waters of the river Voidomatis or visiting the many chapels and monasteries in the area.
